As members of Girlguiding Birmingham girls have fun, adventure and the space to discover their potential. By volunteering with us you’ll be helping girls build their confidence, have adventures and learn new skills.

Welcome to our wonderful, diverse, family of Girlguiding Birmingham, a fabulous mix of cultures and religions, spanning the whole of Birmingham from Kings Norton and Northfield in the south as far north as Sutton Coldfield.

Girlguiding Birmingham gives girls and young women space where they can grow, develop, build brilliant friendships, and make a positive difference to their lives and their communities.

They go to their first ever sleepover, canoe on rivers, learn about body confidence, and lead their own camp. Or sometimes they simply have fun and try new things with friends.

Girls take what they do in guiding with them as they grow up. Everything from working in a team, to taking the lead, to speaking out on issues they care about. It helps them develop the skills and confidence to become the young women they want to be. And to make a difference to the world around them.

Can any girl join Guiding?

We are an inclusive organisation and will help any member to get the most out of their time with us. Guiding welcomes girls and adults with disabilities and additional needs and its varied programme is flexible to allow most girls to participate. Every member of guiding makes a promise to do their best. If a girl or leader is willing to commit to the Promise – then they can become a member of Girlguiding.

Including everyone in guiding | Girlguiding

Do come and join us if you have learning or physical special needs that limit your activities but not your hopes and achievements. Everyone is included, has independence, choice and control - and everyone does their best.

Everyone has their strengths and we aim to work with the abilities a person has and offer help if they need it. In guiding we encourage the girls to learn social skills, work together, be tolerant and respect diversity whilst carrying out the most important part of our philosophy – having fun!

It is always helpful if parents discuss their daughter’s needs with the unit leader before she joins.
