What We Did On Our Holiday – Izzy – Wellies and Wristbands

Izzy

Brownie Leader and Member of The Senior Section

At the end of August I volunteered as staff at Wellies and Wristbands, a weekend Guide and Senior Section festival, at Foxlease. This is the second time I have volunteered at this event and both times I went alone, but made new friends (and met up with some old ones) instantly! It’s a really great event and completely different to normal Guide camp – the girls do activities during the day, like Kayaking, zipwire, crate stacking and crafts, before having dinner at the central catering facility and heading off to the stage to watch 4/5 acts in the evening. There is also a Beauty Spa area, hot tubs and a tea shop (ran some incredible ladies from Girlguiding South West England to fundraise for their adults-only trip to Kenya!) available to use during the day and special staff/ Leader -only areas.

All of the volunteers get really stuck in and we were all most grateful for the wonderful volunteers known as the Facilities Fairies who did all the jobs no one else really wants to do!

I had a really great time and met some really great people and am hoping to be able to attend again next year!
