On The Move!

The Arts Team are proud to announce the Birmingham County elephant, Ruby, will be on display at Sarehole Mill with its links to Tolkein and The Hobbit.

This is part of the Arts Explosion Challenge and is an elephant sculpture trail taking place all over the Midlands. A full booklet is on its way telling you where all the elephants are to visit.

All the Midland’s elephants will be displayed at the Rainbows Go Wild event at Twycross Zoo (7th and 8th June) and then Ruby will move to her new home.

Sarehole Mill, in Hall Green, is open Tuesday to Sunday 12pm to 4pm. It is free on the first Sunday of the month and at all times for under 16s. Otherwise concessions are charged £2 and an adult is £3. There is a car park and the Mill is easily reached by public transport on the Number 11 (the stop is immediately outside) or from Hall Green Station (a walk of 10-15 minutes).

There is a large field for picnics next to the Mill and a lovely walks along the river. Moseley Bog Nature Reserve is also very nearby – said to be another source of inspiration to Tolkein.
