Introducing the Feed A Child Challenge

Contributed by Alex Williams
In 2015 I led a Midlands Region trip to Kenya, and along the way we met some amazing people and girls.  Along this journey I met a lady called Liz Formby MBE.  Liz and a team of people support the Brainhouse Academy, a school based in the slums of Nairobi, with the aim to educate street children, vulnerable children and children of families who cannot afford education for their children. The school receives no funding from the government.  Myself and my team were fortunate to meet a group of Girl Scouts from the school as they joined us for an International Camp.  My team formed a bond with the girls and took a lot away from the trip, as well as a Guide unit being set up for the girls at the Brainhouse Academy.  Since our return Liz and a team from ACEF have put together a pack to raise much needed funds for the Brainhouse Academy.
It is a challenge pack designed for use by anyone from Rainbows through to Trefoil Guild and classes in schools.  There are lots of activities you can complete and there is a lovely badge to purchase at the end too.  The badge will cost £1.50 and this will feed a child for a week.
You can download the Challenge Pack from our Leaders’ Area here: Go To Leaders’ Area
