Brownies have been camping at Cosmic

Contributed by Katie Waite

In the middle of August, over 200 Girlguiding members attended the second Cosmic Brownie Camp. Brownies from all over the Midlands came together to explore, discover and try a range of new activities including crate stacking, inflatable assault course and lighting a fire using flint.

Groups were divided into two sub-camps, Warren and Hive but come together for the opening and closing ceremonies and star challenge afternoon which included our very own ice cream van. Brownies visited the five WAGGGS World Centres as part of the Explore, Survive, Discover activity area. As part of this area they have the opportunity to wear traditional saris, undertake basket weaving and make there own rockets.

Everyone also enjoyed a range of evening activities including a spectacular campfire which had everyone up on there feet, laughing all evening and coming home with some lovely new songs to teach to their unit. The night hike was another brownie favourite, especially with a hot chocolate and marshmallows at the end.

Every Brownie that attended had an amazing time thanks to the event team and Senior Section support team in the Den. We can’t wait till the next Cosmic camp!
