Brownie Into Film Day

Brownies from all over Birmingham enjoyed a day all about film which included them  watching and learning how to view a film with a more critical eye, learning to be an active viewer, making a live action film, simulated wounds with a professional make up artist, making an animated film with plastic clay figures and sound effects.  This was a fantastic opportunity to work with film professionals who could talk about their work on things like Doctor Who and Aliens vs Wizards.  The day really was amazing. The professionals were keen to pass on what they knew and their skills to the girls who reflected their enthusiasm. It was a brilliant day, one that Brownies will never forget.

Not only were the girls celebrating 100 years of Brownies but two girls had birthdays whilst on holiday so there was plenty of birthday cake. As well as abseiling, zip wiring, rock climbing, swimming, fencing, a trip to the Isle of Wight the girls had a world theme with the main room decorated each day representing specific continents and countries.

As the holiday was so special we needed a special guest so invited the Chief Guide Gill Slocombe to join our celebrations. She enjoyed an afternoon with the girls making mocktails, South American musical instruments and presenting the girls with medals following their ‘mock’ winter Olympic competitions.
